Re: *Official WSOP* Event #3: $1,500 PLHE
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] what was the action? [/ QUOTE ] I start the hand with 1450, him slightly more. He raises to 75 UTG and I reraise to 225 in the cutoff, and he calls. Flop is the aforementioned J63 rainbow. He checks, I bet 275, he calls. At this point, I am pretty sure my hand is good so I want to get all the chips in the middle. Turn is a three, putting two diamonds on board, he checks, I Check, trying to make my hand look like a missed AK/AQ, and to induce him to bluff (or to call a bet from me) on the river with what I expect isn't a very strong hand (I expected he had something like 77). River is a 9, completing the flush. He bets 600 I raise for the rest of what Ive got, and he calls with the flush. [/ QUOTE ] You lost 60xbb all-in on the river with 1-pair and a 3-flush on the board? This is bad, and that's all I'll say. |

Preflop I think you have to raise more, you're giving great immediate odds to virtually any hand, and Gavin loves to play suited connectors for a raise (either making the raise or calling one). This statement: [ QUOTE ] At this point, I am pretty sure my hand is good so I want to get all the chips in the middle. [/ QUOTE ] is contradictory to this one: [ QUOTE ] I Check, trying to make my hand look like a missed AK/AQ, [/ QUOTE ] And on the river I see very little value in raising. |

Re: *Official WSOP* Event #3: $1,500 PLHE

Preflop I think you have to raise more [/ QUOTE ] Well let's see. There is 50 in blinds, and Gavin's 75 raise. So, I suppose my max raise would have been to 275 instead instead of 225. I don't see any difference. I don't see how the two statements are contradictory - I thought my hand was good and was trying to take the line most likely to result in the two of us going to an all in showdown. Betting all in is unlikely to get a call from a weak hand - checking is more likely to get him to make a pot committing bet. Raising on the river is debatable, sure. But given what I felt he had, I figured he couldn't fold for just 300 more with the pot at 2500 or whatever. |
