He could also break a couple of Spot's legs and then finish him off at a medium pace.

Let's put a face to the man.

Gimme odds on a normal pit bull vs:

a) Ron Artest
b) Mike Tyson
c) George W. Bush
d) Tom Cruise
e) Oscar de la Hoya

If the man has time to formulate a plan (like you would before a UFC/boxing match) I would be very suprised if he lost.

This would be the most boring PPV event ever once the man climbs halfway up the cage and refuses to come down.

If the man has no clothes and no weapons, advantage pitbull, easily. But if the man is wearing clothes to protect himself and shoes, he could kick the dog in the face and stomp on its neck or something to kill it, advantage man.

Pitbulls are notorious for their ability to jump/climb fences.

There are definately several possibilites, and thats why i think giving the man ample time to think about his options (and find an expert on attack dogs) would swing it heavily in his favor. If he had no idea who/what he was up against untill moments before the fight he is pretty much screwed unless he is a world class fighter of somekind and can take a lot of pain (and also won't panic when he sees the pit bull getting in the ring).

No way the the human wins. The dog's bite is way too strong, it would be too quick.
