Some people are saying not to play it.

Can you elaborate on WHY not?

[/ QUOTE ]

The game is worthless and frustrating unless you put in 25-80 hours a week playing it. Playing this game casually is a waste of time, it is designed this way. Whoever says this game is "easier to play casually" than other MMORPG's is so wrong there isnt a word for how wrong he is.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but I play the game casually, and I really enjoy it.

Not sure what else to say. I play it for 10 hours/wk., tops. I have a good time.

[/ QUOTE ]

your typical end-game dungeon takes 5-15 hrs to complete.

If you can play it in moderation, go ahead, but it is seriously like crack and if you're like a lot of people you will stop living in reality and live your whole life in this amazing game. It's too good. I lost about 3 months to it before I quit cold turkey. Not that WW is any better but at least I can work and get some things done while I do that.

I have no idea whether the game can be enjoyed casually. I suspect that it can and people say they do but no one I know has ever been able to prevent the grind from kicking in. When you get very high level the instances are brutally difficult and require massive cooperation so unless you are willing to put up with mounting a huge operation every evening with 50 of your closest friends then you will just end up leveling up multiple characters and spending just as much time playing that way.

I never thought I'd say that a game was too good, but got-damn WOW is sick addicting.

Don't play it. It's crack. This is no joke. If you like money or women just don't do it. I, like Amp, also quit cold turkey after being a UO, EQ, DAOC guy first.

Again, dont [censored] do it.

Because if someone just said this about it:

Unfortunately, a "friend" talked me into starting again.
I have it under control for now. I can quit anytime I want...

...then you should see the red flag.

FWIW, I haven't played it at high levels, so take all my comments with a grain of salt. It's fun for me, right now. I play it with my brothers, and we don't often find a time to play together, so I don't play much.

Are there any other games that are better suggested?

[/ QUOTE ]Do you really mean "What R good video games?"? Or are you asking for an alternative massively-multiplayer games?

I think every massive game will suck your time away from you. To create currency in a multiplayer world, the chief commodity is Time. To make things matter, without a permanent death option, the main way they'll make things "expensive" is by costing you time.

I do think there are MMORPGS out there that are more casual than WoW. I played City Of Heroes for a while, and had a fun time with it. It's always tempting to play for hours and hours on end, but it seemed somehow more light-hearted than WoW or DAoC.

I'll toss my opinion out there. If you have the Summer off, get it, you'll probably love it. If you have responsibilities to keep up with, stay far away. It is very hard to find motivation to play poker, go out and see friends, or maintain meaningful relationships while you're playing this game. It is very easy to get sucked in, and can be very tough to stop playing.

guild wars is a MMORPG that is cool, can be played casually ("casually" in trems of MMORPgs, that is) and has no monthly fee.

Seriously though. if you have personal relationships, a job, or make money playing poker just dont pick up an MMORPG.

I highly recommend battlefront 2
