Check the flop. A lot of live players will limp in with 88-TT. But not just that, there are too many ways for this hand to turn sour quickly.

I always check weak hands like this in EP in a multiway pot to look how the action is developing.

With that many, just check/fold.

Just for kicks, I stoved hero's equity with 5 random hands (monte carlo, stopped after a minute). We can expect 5 hands to be less than random.

I'm going to check and play poker

What the hell is with that phrase? Obviously you're not playing soccer on your computer and despite it being cards, you're not playing solitaire. "play poker" is the most meaningless phrase 2+2 has ever invented

[/ QUOTE ]

Just a reminder to shut down whatever porn site you're browsing that made you so confused about how to play the hand.

(But yeah, that phrase drives me nuts too)

Default The rest of the hand

I checked the flop, thinking this might be a mistake, and it checked around.

A King fell on the turn, and I figured that must've hit someone and checked again. And again the action checked all the way around.

Some other card fell on the river (I had given up on the hand by then -- I think it was a 9 or T, though; in any case, it wasn't a flush or a straight card). It checked all the way to the last person, who bet. And then everyone folded.

Apparently the river bettor was disappointed by this. I heard her tell the person next to her something about how she had a good hand.

This is not a good situation for this hand. OP. Guarantee you will get callers. When the next card comes out, what will you do? The only thing you could hope for would be a 2 or a 7. Everything else really sucks for your hand. I think a check fold is in order.
