stubborn and having time on his hands sounds like good ingredients for a gambling addiction.. especially if outside influences won't affect his game.

i'd give him another $50 and impress on him the basics (suitedness/sets/etc dominate these multiway pots, position rules, etc)..

This could hurt his ego, but challenge him to a HU match over a decent # of hands. If you win, he has to read a book before any more online play; if he wins you transfer him some cash and let the lecturing slide (for now).

Better yet, set him up with a 2p2 account so we can tear him a new one.

The old man is stubborn. Says he doesn't need to read any books. He has been playing poker longer than I have been alive. Etc. It is that role reversal phenomenon. Like I am now the father and he has become the son. Strange but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and thought maybe a few funny stories might emerge.

I'm not surprised. I got my step-grandmother 7CSFAP for Christmas and she hasn't touched it yet. She figures she knows more about poker than some silly book.

But when we hit the boat, she always goes BUTSO at the ring tables and hits me up for cash. She usually reimburses me in less than an hour at a slot machine. I don't know how she does that.

i know there are lots of older dudes on this forum that are fathers that could give some good advice. as for me... i would let your mom handle this as i think she has greater power over your pops than you have.

You could try leaving a beginner's book on the computer desk
