Re: In Las Vegas June 2, 3, 4
It's a hike I think. Take a cab or walk to Monte Carlo and take the shuttle to Bellagio. You might be able to pick up the monorail near there somewhere.

Re: In Las Vegas June 2, 3, 4
I don't think ANY casino in Vegas spreads $10/20.
Mirage has a semi-regular $5/10 game. It can be rocky during the day, but after the old timers go to bed it's loose-aggressive/drunks from 10PM-5AM. Does anybody know if that game still goes anymore ? |

Re: In Las Vegas June 2, 3, 4
I was in Vegas in early February and played stud three days at the Mirage. The only stud they even offered was that crummy 1-5 game.
I'm glad to hear from Jeffage about the weakness of the stud game at the Bellagio. I was a little too intimidated by it to give it a try when I was there, but now that Jeff has educated us I'll be anxious to play it the next time I'm out there. |

Yes, just keep in mind that Jeff's idea of a soft game may be different from mine (or yours)

Re: In Las Vegas June 2, 3, 4
I think you are under estimating the ability of the players at the $20-$40 game there. Many are exerienced players that have been playing for years. In general, they are a smart group. They may not raise crazily, but they now what they are doing, and beware david s., one of the top all time middle limit stud players ever. So, it would not be wise to under estimate that game. They know how to play.

Re: In Las Vegas June 2, 3, 4
The game, in my experience, is soft. There are some decent players, but that is true of just about any casino game including lower limits. A couple decent players is no big deal when many others passively call down, miss raises, don't properly valuebet, etc. Also, decades of experience can mean something but sometimes (in most middle limit stud games), it just means they've been making the same fundamental errors for decades (playing dead hands, too passively, too loose, etc). I think anyone you TRULY need to be worried about is at the 50 game for the most part and even in that game, there are just a few truly tough customers.
But like MRBAA said, your definition of a soft game might be different than mine - your mileage may vary. No one should play at stakes or with competion that they're not comfortable with. That said, I think MRBAA would be fine in this game based on his posts and longtime readership here. I look forward to his trip report. Jeff |

[/ QUOTE ] I was there hanging out for 4 nights a couple weeks ago with a friend of mine in town on vaca. ALL holdem. I saw one night with 5/10 O8 that had a floor call every 5 minutes. I saw one 1-5 stud game that took about 2 hours to get started because no one would show that was on the list. It died about an hour later, assumingly three of the players passed away while playing this game. |

Lets face it, the only places left that spread any stud games $5/10 and up are in AC (Taj, Trop, Borgata) and Foxwoods. Bellagio has a $20/40 game, I don't know of any other stud games left in Vegas other than $1/5. |

So, find any stud out there?
I'm gonna be in Vegas next week. Was there anything to report of note?
