You're scared of exactly T9? C'mon ...

I see people flop two pair and wait to raise all the time. They want you to keep betting. He maybe even have just a J and be bluffing.

3-betting here would be bad.

No, it's a lot closer to a 3-bet then a fold.

[/ QUOTE ]
doesn't mean 3-betting is better than calling

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree. Not against an unknown. I'd 3-bet this easily against someone that is moderately LAGy.

there is also a chance he has a 3. discount J8 a bit because he already had two pair on the flop and you're looking at nine combos each of J7 and 87 which is now a middle two pair and behind any jack. T9 makes up 16 hands with which he will extract max value from us.

so "exactly" T9 is a little overexaggerated. he will have it often.

Bingo. So our options are call or 3-bet. I think against most of my opponents (3/6-5/10), this is probably a 3-bet. This is probably a bluff 10% of the time, too.

I agree that I exaggerated the rarity of T9, but most opponents at 6-max will push an OESD on the flop. I rarely see anyone but the biggest rocks play it like this. This tends to make me discount it.

Of course, we'd probably have no arguments if OP had any reads. *Hint*

No way. People just call along pretty frequently imo.

What makes you think that he almost never has a 3. I put him on a 3 as soon as he raised.

First, he's less likely to defend a 3. Second, many people aren't imaginative enough to wait for the river. Some certainly will, but not most I think.

I'm not folding this, 3-betting or calling, either way I'm seeing a showdown.
