Re: Watch connoisseurs: recommend an automatic chronograph
In order to not spend too much, but still maintain resale value and quality, go with an IWC or Brietling. There are many many better chronographs, but not many for under $5000. If you can't spend much then head to http://Timezone.com and pick up a used one.
Or you could always opt for the fuzzy watch in my avatar! I can't realy advocate a new rolex as so many people do, a vintage mechanical is as good as almost anything, I've heard of alot of problems out of newer ones. Patek Phillippe Blancpain Vacheron Constantin Minerva A. Lange & Sohne Anything from any of these makers will, in quality, far exceed 99.5% of all other makers' pieces, if you can pick up a used and take good care of it, reselling can actually make you good money. Re: Watch connoisseurs: recommend an automatic chronograph
[ QUOTE ]
Probably $500 or less, though I could maybe be convinced to spend a bit more. I like some of the suggestions thus far but they are indeed out of my price range. Sorry for not including this originally. [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunately, that's going to make it tough for a good automatic. In that price range I'm thinking Seiko (and the "watch connoisseurs" will not be happy.) If you go for $1500, you start to get some nice choices. For your price range, you might want to reconsider quartz. |

Re: Watch connoisseurs: recommend an automatic chronograph
Why get an automatic? Quartz watches are more accurate. IIRC, a certified Swiss movement is accurate to within 10 seconds a day, while a quartz watch is accurate to about a few seconds a month.
Also, there are very few automatics for $500. The only one I know of is Seiko. |

Re: Watch connoisseurs: recommend an automatic chronograph
Don't know why I forgot about Hammy. People who have them seem to like them.
One thing to note is that original Invicta you posted is apparently 44mm, while that particular Khaki model is only 38mm. It is also available in 42mm. Whether you care about any of that is up to you and your wrist. |
