or spend the whole flight trying to get up the courage to talk to the only semi-attractive girl next to you. your best bet is to hope that her in-flight magazine's crossword is clear, but yours is partially filled out so you can ask to borrow it. then wait for her to make the next move. she won't. return to your crappy apartment and check for responses to your match.com.

tuq

40 bucks get a external usb dvd drive , make sure it takes power from the port or if not that the plan has 2 slots for you plug into.

also Guids, small/light weight laptops never come with slots/ports for floppy's/rom drives They either require and external or a Doc.

Lastly tuq, if its just one those smaller attached docks then just drag it along if you don't mind the weight on your shoulder. The thing really to know about this is the plane your taking and what kind of power receptacle's most planes don't have a standard 110 outlet to plug into its usually some retarded 2 prong thing. you can call and find this out or find it online.

PM if you need help with finding a travelers kit

Great stuff but after substantial research I found out that requests must be placed two days in advance. I just found out this weekend I gotta fly - my grandmother died yesterday. Legitimate possibility for the trip back though. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I bought a MacBook specifically because it's small enough to use on a plane. Even a 14" Toshiba that I have sitting here is too big when opened to use correctly on an airplane tray (the seat in front of it kills the vertical space, and it won't fully open).

Anyhow, that was my solution. The main difference between this and every Toshiba/Dell I've ever seen is the linkage between the LCD and the keyboard section. Fully opened, this thing is 3" shorter than the 14" Toshiba.

eddie, thanks, she was a great woman but I only saw her once a year. The big news is that she was my mother's mother and it's really tearing her up big-time. Need to be there for her.

guids, apparently I need to look into DVD ripping stuff, stat. I haven't paid to download a song in years, but haven't had reason to rip a DVD. Even if legal I don't know how. Hell, I'd just rip "Heat" and watch that both ways, I mean that's a seriously sweet flick with the best shootout scene in movie history.
