Do not, repeat NOT, wear those cheap plastic green hats given away at places like Fitzgerald's and O'Shea's. Especially if it's warm out (as it usually is in Vegas).

Heat rises, and heat usually leaves your body out the top of your head. These plastic hats have no vent holes, and trap all that heat.

I guess the city fathers don't see any connection between the plastic hats, and the disproportionate number of drunk kids who pass out in the casinos and on the sidewalks on this particular weekend.

(BTW, the first weekend of the tourney is the busiest, since nobody's favorite team has been eliminated yet.)

I've been to the strip the last two St. Patty's Day's/ MM. Hate to be the party pooper but last year's St. Patty's Day was real weak. NFI at NYNY was ok at best last year. The year before it was crazy. Last year it was all dudes in town for MM. Poker rooms get sick crowded after the games. I can bet BBall and play poker at home, I go to Vegas to go friggin' crazy and last year was weak. My friends and I moved our yearly trip to May as a result.

I'd say fishy and busy. I waited several hours at The Bellagio for 2-5NL 200 buy in.

The first weekend is crazy, absolutely crazy. You have to get up early each day and scout out a good place to watch games, and guard it with your life.

I have decided the second weekend is my weekend this year, so I can get more poker in, hehe, 12 hours of beer and constant running to the window for bets makes me very sleepy...

Then I will be heading to Indianapolis for the Final Four, all expenses paid. Is it good that I am looking forward to Vegas 10x as much?

Oh... and betting moneyline on the 14 seed and then watching them whoop up on Syracuse. And screaming all !@#$ing game so everyone else in the room knows that's exactly what you did.

Going back this year after a three year absence. Staying at Bally's and can't wait.

Hitting a money line bet on a huge underdog is the closest I'll ever come to feeling like a star. Against the line the game is long over and you are the only one cheering like crazy with everyone looking at you thinking you're a genius.

I love the money line.

I've been playing poker about a year, hopefully I'll love the $1/2 NLHE tables at Bally's and Paris, too.

Since last March, the Wynn, MGM Grand, and Caesars Palace have opened big poker rooms. So, it shouldn't be nearly that long of a wait this year.

How crazy will it be

[/ QUOTE ]

If you consider sports books jammed to the ceiling with wasted college kids, screaming at every rebound and betting on every game "crazy," then I guess it is. I've been there for three of them and they were all excellent. I once thought I was a "player" betting $100 parlays when the 20-something beside me flashed several $10 and $20 k slips. The flow of cash is awesome to watch. I agree with other posters that it can rival Superbowl weekend, and it lasts a lot longer. There's nothing like having a six-way parlay with the two clinching games underway, two dozen horse race slips in your hands and seeing the UCLA cheerleader at the Bellagio sports book bar try to knock herself out with her own chest by jumping up and down. It's a little piece of heaven. The poker is just a bonus.

Screw it. I'm going to be there.

I like to thank everyone who replied. I will be staying at the Sahara, just to sleep and play enough poker to get the rate. Most of the time I be at wynn, belligo and Ceasers.
I going alone because my friends cheap or whipped. Hope to meet some of you guys there. I think I'm bringing a big enough roll, $3000, to play some 15-30 and mid-level nolimt games.
