How often is 88 going to be the best hand on the flop 2 way? 4 way?
How often are you going to know 88 is the best hand from SB 2 way on the flop? 4 way?
How often are you going to take the pot with a cbet 2 way? 4 way?
How strong are the hands that people limp/called your minraise with?
How often are they going to hit something big with those hands?
How often do you think you going to get paid when you hit your set?
How the hell you plan to play AK and AA from this position?

1. More often 2 way, but in both cases there is an equal (and likely) chance of a flop that I dislike. If I am floated, I am screwed. Thus the difference between the two is less pronounced than it might seem, since it's not a raw "who is better."

2. I don't know if it's the best hand in either case, although since nobody reraised, I have to consider myself best preflop.

3. Less in a 4-way pot.

4. Not sure, my reads on these players aren't deep enough that I know what they limp call with. It could be SCs, it could be tiny pockets, it could be Ace-rags.

5. They will hit big more often 4-way. Big is a double edged sword, of course. I want people hitting 2pair big, not straight big. So, I don't know what this means to me.

6. More often in a 4-way pot.

7. The same way I play AJ, JJ, TT, AK, AQ, or maybe 9Ts from this position.

I see.

Then there are two options basically. You can do as you are advised. And then half a year later you may say "Ah, coraskh is a tool and $2 is the way to go". Or you can do it your way for half a year and find out I am a tool your way. You choose

Yeah, I mean, I'm not responding just to say "Corsakh you're wrong!" I don't think you are. I think raising to 3 here is a perfectly good move. I just am not sure that raising to 2 is as egregious as people seem to think. And so I'm trying to parse out the pros and cons here.

3bet the flop.

I'd rather raise $3 pre-flop to have a better chance at getting headsup.
