Default Re: CDN players - how are you dealling with the low US dollar?

I work in an investment bank in Toronto. The feeling is from the experts, that, the Canadian central bank is going to lower interest rates and bring the dollar down. The high dollar is hurting the manufacturing and export sectors too much. So if anyone doesnt need the money immediately, I would leave it in your poker accounts. By the begining of next year, the dollar should be at parity.

That's good news newstop. I can live with parity, anything more is a bit ridic.

Also, are there any sites that let you keep a EUR or a GBP balance alongside your USD account? Mistake me if I'm wrong, but sunpoker just converts US->GBP for their GBP tables and then when you're done they do a GBP->US conversion back into your account.

Yes there are a lot of them, but problem is the usually charge 0,6% or something everytime you move money from USD->Euro or pound or whatever.

i'm limiting my withdrawals for the time being and mostly using my CAN reserves to pay my day to day living expenses... hope to at least get back to 1.05 or lower in the next quarter. No clue if this is likely, though...

Like others have said I expect a sizeable reduction in the interest rates, the economy is booming and the government wants to keep it that way.

In the meantime I am shopping on Ebay alot :-)

the us dollar isn't low, hasn't changed for me (a person living in the us).. the canadian dollar is just too high. Do something to [censored] up your currency ldo.

As long as my double cheeseburgers and parfaits are $1 I'm happy.

right now I'm withdrawing to a US account to keep it in US dollars and get the interest.. not sure what I'll do after that.. planning on some cross-boarder shopping since a lot of stores haven't adjusted their prices, hopefully towards Christmas more companies will.. Other than that, just holding out as long as I can..

It's quite depressing to think how much money has been lost in the last year or so due to the dollar, I don't want to even think about that.

That's what I figured but that's not something I might want to do. I don't want to get raped on exchange rates before and after every session. Is there currently a site that allows you to keep GBP/EUR balances separate from US dollars, and you can withdraw with GBP/EUR denominated checks? If they don't, they should create some, would be a good way to hedge against the dollar while grinding.
