Re: Cell phones at tables
[ QUOTE ]
I have no problem with others being on the phone at the table where it's allowed as long as they pay attention to the action. [/ QUOTE ] Same with iPods. I don't care if they are listening to a language tape on learning Dutch and reciting words out loud, as long as they are paying attention and are not slowing down the action. I am surprised that people have a problem with any of this, casinos are loud places right? |

[/ QUOTE ] Half the reason I will bring out my ipod at a table is to alleviate noise (I have good headphones, not earbuds). I also always pause it when I make an action that puts me in the hand (raise/call/check preflop, I hit pause after I act, so I can clearly hear what's going on). |

Re: Cell phones at tables
So what if you have one of the music phones and are using it to listen to music? Or you're waiting for a friend to arrive?
Personally, I think that as long as people don't slow down the game, then it's fine. But people who constantly don't know what's going on and yell "WHO RAISED???" should have to eat their phone/ipod. |

Re: Cell phones at tables
At the Oaks in CA you cannot be dealt a hand if you are on the phone, but once you are dealt the cards you can take or make a call...compromise, I suppose.

Re: Cell phones at tables
I guess the thing that bugged me about it was that the guy was talking rather loudly. I omitted that in my OP. This guy clearly should have just stepped a lot further away from the table since he was out from any hands for at least 20 mins. Next time I guess if it bugs me that much I'll tell him so.

Borgata if you are on a phone and the button's second card is dealt (or any point after that), your hand is dead immediately. [/ QUOTE ] I don't believe this is correct - I've never seen someone's hand killed for this in the games I've played there. It's openly tolerated. Jeff |

Re: Cell phones at tables
All of my B&M experience has been in AC (borgata primarily) and I had always seen cell phones users asked to leave the table.
It was my first time in Vegas this past week I was kind of surprised. At the venetian this guy directly to my left was literally on the phone for 30+ minutes with his girlfriend. He was talking pretty loudly - begging his gf that he could play longer - and it got really annoying after awhile. Several times it slowed the play up and IMHO it was pretty rude for that length of time to be talking on the phone. |

Re: Cell phones at tables
It's rude. Just don't do it. If the gf/wife/friend calls, just be nice, and leave the table, unless it's gonna be a really short call.
The only place where I've actually seen a no-cell phone rule was at Rio, because the poker room was in the sports book. Haven't heard of a ban other than that. |
