Default Re: AK early 4-bet, 5 bet shove by Big blind

In hindsight i would have flat called, because i realised im utg and villain is in the blinds, i think his range is quite thin, especially once he shoves. I wasn't bluffing with my 4-bet and i did it originally with the intention of calling the shove. Also, i wouldn't make the 4-bet bigger just to give myself better odds to call the push, i was more trying to induce the push.

I dislike some of your decisions here preflop. If you don't know that he 3bets light, just fold preflop. If you do, get it in and don't think about it. And by 3-bet light, I mean you've seen him 3bet AJ, 78s type hands.

It is pretty easy to say, "Oh yeah??!!" when you are holding AA/KK/QQ

If he's not one to 3-bet light, there's no shame in folding to his re-raise. Many people may think this is over-tight, but if he doesn't 3-bet with less than AKo, your hand has low equity against his range, and if an Ace or King flops either you won't get any action, or you'll get action when you're domninated.

without a long 3bet history I nearly never 4bet here. you have to realize that villain is 3betting a utg raise oop...AK is near the bottom of his range. obv, fold to the shove.

Hero is UTG, Villain is SB. Hero has position after the hand right?

I would tend to call the 3-bet instead of 4-betting it. Force him to play a pot OOP when you still have a lot of money behind. Unless he is loose with his 4-betting I think you have to give him credit for a big hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

So the 4 betting wasnt that bad because it made you know villain got a good hand...
