Trump 3/6 is cake. A lot of retirees during the day killing time with poker instead of the slots, very loose, just be ready to keep your cool when J7o beats your AK when the lady in the 'World's Best Grandma' sweatshirt rivers a 7 for two pair for the third time.

At night, Trump 3/6 is even juicier. Younger crowd, lots of players drinking and laughing. The 6/12 is a little tougher, but not much.

Resorts 5/10 has always been tougher for me. The players seem a little better, but not much. I capped preflop with QQ one night, ended up flopping a set, ramming and jamming, lost on the river to T6, whose 6 filled in a 8-high straight. The guy grins and tells me he couldn't fold since I was offering him such good pot odds. Lots of ridiculous play like that. I took a severe beating both of my first two trips to Resorts, then was able to straighten it out the next few visits.

At both of these rooms, it's best to just play tight mathematical poker, bet for value, and manipulate the pot as best you can to force the others to make mistakes--they will gladly oblige.

A friend of mine told me that Ho Chunk Casino in Baraboo now has poker. It's 20 miles or so NNW of Madison near the Wisconsin Dells.

However, the Ho Chunk website doesn't list poker, but it's not the most accurate of websites. The map on the website indicates the casino is located within the state capitol building in Madison. Ho Chunk directions page

Well, the Governor's critics have alleged that his administration is too close to the gaming industry . . .

Elgin has a boat but no poker. Aurora has about 8 tables spreading 5/10 and 10/20 both very soft games.

I experienced the rake at the $5/10 LHE game in Aurora (Hollywood Casino) to be absurdly high - $6.
The Arogsy Empress in Joliet, Ill., also has a small poker room. But I'd recommend Resorts first and then Trump.

Resorts Also drags $6 from the 5/10 ($5 rake + $1 for the bad beat). $5 rake for 10/20 + up with no BBJ.

Is it just me, or is Resorts an insanley loud room for being isolated from the rest of the casino? I've never brought a MP3 player to a poker room, but will the next time I go to Resorts.

I'm fairly certain Resorts does not allow you to listen to music.

You are wrong. They started allowing music players a few months ago.

yes, if you aren't there within an hour, your name will be taken off the list. on busy days (especially weekends), even if you call in and arrive an hour after you call, you may be waiting an hour or two more before you sit (depending on the game you play)
