Re: Am I bluffing? I think I\'m bluffing ($400NL river decision)
[q]especially since the turn raise makes most sense with Js10s or AsJs[/q]
Yeah, that's a great point. When the river fell I was pretty confused. It was the last card I expected, and wasn't sure if I loved it or hated it. Heres what went through my head. 1. I was pretty sure with his turn raise his most likely hoding was a 77, Jx, or AA (22/JJ also slightly possible) 2. 2 of 3 should fold to this bet 3. This player has no read on me and I can easily have a J here 4. That a J never checks this river That was enough and I shoved. |

Re: Am I bluffing? I think I\'m bluffing ($400NL river decision)
Ugh i would be so skeptical if i was MP1 here. Especially after the flop call and the turn raise. I really would like to see a flop raise to 80...
but you were curious about river and I think in a vacuum its not possible for random player to fold a hand of AA or better. which makes this spew? |

why not check it down? i think that this is a bad bluff, i dont think that raising the turn was a great idea either. raise the flop. if you were gonna raise the turn then you have to shove dude, nothing else makes sense. [/ QUOTE ] That turn needs to be raised after just a flop call. But yes, I agree a shove is better on the turn. Raising the flop is fine, and so is re-raising preflop. I switch it up a lot, and as I said, was trying to reproduce what happened in the previous hand. Certain opponents would have suspected I was floating again and gone for a c/r on turn. Then, I can then 3-bet all in (that was my optimal plan for this hand). Checking down the river is ok, but I thought I was losing and had FE so I shoved. |

3. This player has no read on me and I can easily have a J here [/ QUOTE ] This makes the play much better, but I still don't like it. If you try it vs. anyone that knows you then you can say goodbye to your buyin when they call. Its definitely a bluff, but I don't think its a good one as you're still ahead of the bottom of his range IMO. Also, 1 jack probably doesn't check the river, but JJ checks this river everytime. |

the main giving the history, i agree that you "float" was the best line. But for god sake you have to reraise the turn. Im soo suprised that he didnt just open shove the river, thats why id shove turn.

Hands ahead that I get to fold include, 77, AA and all flushes. [/ QUOTE ] I think you are overestimating an unknown opponents laydown range here. Take a showdown. |

[/ QUOTE ] Might be the case. I havn't played a tonne of $400NL, and I can sometimes get too fancy when playing higher stakes (assuming better players, obv) |

This is not zero sum, this is -EV play.
[ QUOTE ] Don't like... you get called by the hands that beat you and the hands you bet fold... a zero sum play. [/ QUOTE ] |
