In simple terms, only call preflop with suited connectors when the call represents <= 5% of your effective stack. Fold medium pocket pairs when the call represents >= 10% of your effective stack. Of course, these rules don't apply to -every- situation; they are just general guidelines. Wait...what?

I'm actually at Oregon State (top ten u.s. engineering program) on a full ride engineering scholarship and I obv just didnt understand the question. Tyler thank you for confirming what I already thought, just wasnt 100% sure which makes jacka** comments unnecessary.

he means your own stack, and it only means you have to leave when your on the egde of 20 buyins.

[/ QUOTE ]

so if I buyin for $100 on a $2000 BR I only have to leave the table when I reach 20 buyins? how are you at the maths?

[/ QUOTE ]

Idk; I just saw 5% and 10% and put 2 and 2 together. It's a bad analogy I guess. I thought it would clear it up. Simpler than before: Leave the table when the money on the table represents 10% of your bankroll. Ex: If you 5% max-buy into $200NL and run up to $440, you now have a 4240 bankroll. $440 > 10% of $4240, so leave the table.

OMG...OSU is easy to get into..im gonna apply

it means...u should only risk 5% of ur roll in any given tounr yor cash game...so if i have a roll of 1000 dollars and i buy in for 25 bucks to a nl talbe then go on a huge rush and get up to 75 bucks...my roll is now 1050...and 75 dollars is too high a % of that to be gambling up wiith

[/ QUOTE ]

how did i get this wrong...u take 2.5% of ur BR to the table...triple that to 75$ which is now 7.5% of ur bankroll
andu should leave the table...obv this wouldnt apply to tournaments but u should have plenty of touny BI b4 u play them obviously...id suggest well over 20 buy ins which would be 5%

sorry for the wise ass comment earlier congrats on being in cschool i may end up going back forreal...anyways tell me how i [censored] it up here

I think think it would be better if he said that not only would your stack have to be > 10% of your roll, but there should have to be another stack at your table who has more than 10% of your roll as well.
