The taser seemed a little excessive to me. There were like 4 cops, and they had him on the ground.

I have no idea where free speach has gone in America..from Sally Field getting bleeped over nothing to this kid getting tazered and arrested over a comment??

Neither this nor the Sally Field thing is a 1st Amendment violation. The kid was arrested for behavior, not what he was saying, and Sally was cut off by a private organization. The 1st Amendment only constrains the government, not private businesses.

Default Free Speech Under Attack

Free speech is under attack from the democrats.

First, McCain-Feingold was passed with ovewrwhelming democrat votes (and support from 5th Columnist John McCain).
Next, the democrats are trying to bring back the fairness doctrine.
And now....a peaceful student attacked by John Kerry's goons.

I'm convinced that the democrats are trying to install a fascist state in the USA with John Kerry as the supreme leader. John Kerry, the confessed war crimes criminal, is paving the way to his acquirement of absolute power.... Can no one stop him?

I'm pretty sure Tasered Guy wouldn't have been able to stop him even if he wasn't tasered.

Freedom of speech does not mean you can distrupt a meeting as much as you want for as long as you want.

I'm assuming this was a private event organized by some group(s) and they can decide who can say what at their events.

This kid did not own the building or microphone and was not entitled to rant and rave for as long as he wanted.

The cops did not have the right to lay hands on the guy unless they explitily told him he's trespassing and has been ordered to leave by whoever and he stil refused, so they could be open to some criticism.

This may all have been a drama set up by the student who was tasered. Read this article:

Student has Web site featuring practical jokes, diatribe

"And it turns out that it's not Andrew Meyer's first appearance on the Internet. He has a history of taping his own practical jokes, and several of those videos are featured on his own Web site.

In 1 of them, he stands in a street with a sign that says, "Harry Dies," after the release of the latest Harry Potter book.

In another, he acts like a drunk while trying to pick up a woman in a bar.

The site also has what is called a "disorganized diatribe" attributed to Meyer. It criticizes the Iraq war, and the news media for not covering the conflict enough. And he lashes out at the American public for paying too much attention to celebrity news."

OH [censored]! LOL i saw him standing in the middle of 13th avenue doing his Harry Potter thing, being a total jackass with some kid filming him. I'm glad he got tasered. The kid really is a douche.

While waiting at the light there was a homeless man begging next to this kid. I rolled down the window to give him a granola bar (my GF carries some on her to give to the homeless) and this kid holding his dumbassed sign comes up and becomes completely obnoxious. He was saying stupid [censored] about the Harry Potter book and making fun of the homeless dude.

It's too bad they just used tasers instead of beating him into submission. He deserved it.

this incident reminds me of this . The common theme being that both the students look like complete douches in the end.
