I'd never check raise the turn in this situation. I'd lead again and check/call every now and again. [/ QUOTE ] That's fine too, but I wouldn't worry about being behind here since the board is so uncoordinated and there's so many hands villain could've called on the flop with. |

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em study group
Hey Matt. I have a question. I have been studying "No-Limit Hold'Em: Theory and Practice" a lot. Also, I'm assuming that since you co-authored your new book with Ed Miller, that you have read this book quite a bit also. What are the main differences between your new book and T&P?

[/ QUOTE ] NLHT&P is a series of ideas about the game. Some are basic, and some are more fun. Half of it is a book for "experienced beginners" half more food for thought for experienced players. PNL1 is methodical: here's what you need to think about, here are examples, here's how you do it. |

aside from that. in no way is 100$ effective stacks deep for 100nl... [/ QUOTE ] ah sorry missed your point first go-through. yes 100bb is not deep. however, it's about the most brutal stack size you could pick for top pair and overpair hands when you can't routinely raise to 5 or more bb preflop and still get called. the SPR that results after a routine 3bb raise with 100bb stacks blows for overpairs. (is that what you were getting at?) |

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em study group
So you prefer going the SSNL raise of 4xbb+limpers instead of just pot pot pot ?
but since you are targeting the blinds more than anything in 6max, will going broke once in a while with an overpair vs. giving the blinds a better price (thus allowing them to stay tight) really be a good trade off. Assumes vanilla 2+2 tags on your left, in other words people what you feel are worse then you, when playing with wide ranges .... so in this scenario, do we have a case, where you might want to only make 3xbb in order to force them to open Does your book cover the above btw ??? Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em study group
Matt. How long is it going to take for your book to arrive in european(uk) amazon stores? I pre-ordered it a while ago and just received an e-mail saying they wont be getting it until mid september?
Looks like I'm going to miss out on the study group? Not that it's a big problem because I'm usually best of studying ideas and concepts myself for a deeper understanding. I'm looking forward to reading it even though Gelford here describes the TOC as looking pretty basic, as I'm a bit of a n00b anyway. lol |

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em study group
Well it looks rocksolid, and will be new ground for most ... and I suspect that the last part of the book also might have something new to me.
It's looks like a good book !!! |
