Re: best drummer of all time
Whoever they are, they are (or were) in a metal band. How about Rick Allen from Def Leppard? The guy's only got one arm for christ's sake.

Re: best drummer of all time
Art Blakey, Gene Kupa, Dennis Chambers, Peter Erskine (the human clock), Steve Gadd, Ronald Shannon Jackson, Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Tony Thompson (for reinventing the drum sound with Power Station), Sly Dunbar (for other non-traditional reasons).

Re: best drummer of all time
TT you are correct. I should fix my earlier post. The best drummer either from a metal band or a jazz combo.

Re: best drummer of all time
[ QUOTE ]
TT you are correct. I should fix my earlier post. The best drummer either from a metal band or a jazz combo. [/ QUOTE ] Dennis Chambers was the drummer for Steely Dan and Parliament Funkadelic. Personally I prefer his work with Parliament Sly is from Sly & Robbie. I chose people from all over, not just Jazz. In short, I chose from a wide range of players but there wasn't a metal drummer who really stood out as above and beyond better than the rest. Niel Pert would come very close, but I can't consider him in the same breath as someone like Peter Erkskin who does what Niel can do better. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
