steal is good.

12/10/3

This is not a rock, he has the same PFR as you do probably and he is agressive when he is in a hand.

I'm still folding tho. A8 is still not ahead or at best barely ahead of his range here.

[/ QUOTE ]

vpip 12 and an af 3 does not make this aggressive ... rocky and pretty standard (abc player)

I would say a pfr of 10% and an AF of 3 is pretty much a standard TAG with the limping hands cut out, no?

I don't see any reason to narrow his range more than to that of any TAG in blind defence.

AF is related to the amount of time you are given a chance to 'act' ... you should be looking at vpip not af to determine are aggressive the AF makes an opponent

example (vpip/af)
20/1 ... passive
70/1 ... aggressive
12/3 ... normal
20/3 ... aggressive

it does for my point ...

not sure what you are trying to say ...

also 10% pfr is a pretty tight too ... that mixed with his low vpip tells me he doesn't exactly 'defend' his blinds (nor, has any idea of the concept) - it also tells me that he's not 3betting light ...

it also tells me that he's able to lay a big ace down on the turn if we raise the flop

So the moral of the story is that reads are reary helpful in blind steal situations? I just don't know!

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the moral of the story is you tried to steal from someone who is more than capable of laying down their big blind, but happened to wake up with a hand this time.

Maybe. Maybe not. Considering I wasn't even in the hand, I'm going to lean towards not.

The point is that Vil didnt just 'vpip'. He RAISED so so his vpip doesnt apply here. Any information we can extract about hand ranges will derive from the pfr.

The relative numbers of vpip-pfr -> agg factor will then just be a reflection of how well he plays (if converged).

when you are talking about AF it does ... AF is a stat created by the "total" amount of actions taken. It's an indication of how agressive your opponent's 'general' post flop game is ...

also, if this guy defended his blind at all his vpip would be much higher

note: i think you would do well by checking out 'aggression frequency' - normally on the PAhud popup ... it's a much better direct indication.

so - i don't get your point ... we are getting killed then - an oop 3betting range by this guy is at the very least is KQs (and that's pushing it)

agression has nothing to do with 'how well someone plays'

there are so many guys with 'TAG' stats that completely suck ... and this guy isn't a 'TAG'
