You have 77, flop comes 68K rainbow. Villain calls your c-Bet. Turn is T, and Villain checks. Hero???

You have KhTh, flop comes 9h8c5c. Your C-bet is check-raised. Your action? Assume you call. Turn comes Td, and Villain checks. Hero???

[/ QUOTE ]

hand 1: check. Villain wasn't scared by the K, so why would he fold now? There are 3 overcards to your 77, so you are esentially bluffing if you bet. I would need a good read and stack sizes to shoot a 2nd bullet here.

hand 2: fold. You have K-high.

The whole concept of a c-bet is that you take the pot down on the flop. If you c-bet 1/2 the pot, villain only needs to fold 33% for you to break even. If he folds more than 33% your are gaining chips ... so why chase something if you meet resistance? Just take down the easy pots.

In SSMTTs, villains don't check/raise bluff very often

Sherman, IMHO you're very far off here.

Nothing is considered sexier in low stakes donkaments than calling a LP raise out of the BB and CRing ANY flop. At least until close to the FT.

So much so, that lately I've resorted to c-betting less than half of the time I open from LP, unless I have solid reads that I'm up against timid opponents.

It's simply not worth it when BB is likely to check-push ANY part of the flop.

I don't know what sites you play on, but you've got to be kidding me. Seriously. IMHO, you aren't even close to on target here.

Dude why don't you just give away exactly how to get a huge edge in low buyin MTTs for anyone who can play postflop even a little?

Sherman, I play almost exclusively on Stars ... $10 - $50 FOs & $5 - $10 rebuys...

What I describe is especially rampant in the afternoon (ET) when the Euro crowd is on.

Because of work I rarely play after 10 PM, when the West coast joins in.

And you?

Stars for myself too...but I haven't ventured beyond $20 yet. Maybe that is part of the difference.

Also, I typically play the weekend and late evening MTTs. I am on the west coast so maybe like 18:00+ server time.
