They will make the course even tougher for the pros (pin placement, deeper rough, ect.), but if Tiger, Singh, and Furyk bring thier A games the winning score could be no higher than +2-3.

Meant to add: I dont think Lefty is at his best because of the wrist injury he's had. Dont look for him to contend.

Fortunately they are slowing some of the greens. Some are just insane, you can't toss the ball up there and get it to stay.

Played there a few years ago when I still lived in Pittsburgh. 4 greens slope front to back and they all are absolutely immaculate. In '94 there were a few occasions where they slowed some of the greens down. That course is absolutely brutal. I'll go with +8.

After his 7 iron off the tee on the 13th:

"Oh not in the hole. God damn it." - Tiger Woods

Love it. The coverage has been a bunch of people moving 6-10 foot putts.

Unless 16-18 are playing nasty, looks like at least a couple get in under par today.

Hopefully some books put up a winning score over/under after the first round is over. I still like it around +6 and think the books will set it at +3 or +4.

Default Dougherty in at -2

And Cabrera on the course at -2. Nobody else under par at this time (1:20 eastern). Tiger's +2 after 16.

andyfox,

According to my leaderboard not only did some guy named Nick Dougherty (?) finish at -2, there are four other guys under par as well. There has been some grousing about the online leaderboards not updating properly in the Golf forum thread about the Open, so maybe you're having that problem too.

EDIT: foxsports.com site seems to be up to speed. Link.

There were some rains last night, and this is going to be by far the easiest day.

Woods and Ogilvy I believe will have separated themselves from the field come the end of the day.

By shooting one over par. Sick yeah?

Nick Dougherty and Bubba Watson won't contend, and Olazabal is past his prime. Toms could certainly still come back strong.
