Re: Grotesquely nerdy theatre geekery for DBZ
Why do you need to be a theatre
major in order to write down words? It's not very difficult if you've heard the songs of a few passing birds. Must I show this to all of you, or did many of you already know? I'm hoping that you did BBV, for now 'tis my time to go. |

Re: Grotesquely nerdy theatre geekery for DBZ
Frankly,
I'm embarrassed for all you ratfinks for even attempting to capture the heart of a Modern Woman with such out- dated forms! Get with the times [censored] [censored] [censored] boners meter and rhyme is like a metaphor without a very specific direct object = befuddling. What would LeRoi Jones do? Kill Whitey, that is all. |

Re: Grotesquely nerdy theatre geekery for DBZ
Actually Stoppard does have the emphasis on the second syllable, I heard a tape of him one time and he said his own name "Stuhpard" with the emphasis on "pard."
Anyways, A+ just for fitting obfuscate in there |

Re: Grotesquely nerdy theatre geekery for DBZ
[ QUOTE ]
For DBZ and those who care a whit I'll speak the reasons I am not a nit. To recap my distaste for Tom Stoppard: It's not so much that his text is real hard. You see, Bill Shakespere is often quite tough But rarely does he waste my mental stuff. To parse his meaning from anachronism Can often lead to sturm and drang. But if his use of language can be sick His words, when understood, cut to the quick. With fancy turns of phrase, Tom Obfuscates More subtle points than he elucidates. I think that I shall mark this speech as done. I hope it was received in due good fun. [/ QUOTE ] I'd gladly smell it sir |

Re: Grotesquely nerdy theatre geekery for DBZ
if you read something by Shakespeare of Marlowe or Yeats etc it doesn't even sound like they are trying to rhyme things.
That isn't to say that people nowadays can't write poetry, I would say to look at rap and see an eminem or nas song to see how rhyming can be discreet not "THERE WAS FOG AND A DOG DOWN BY THE BOG" |
