Re: 30/60 river decision: to raise or to call?
You played the hand well. Call river.

Re: 30/60 river decision: to raise or to call?
This is an interesting spot. Is this opponent a thinking LAG or a spewy bad lag? Good or reasonable LAG=call, Bad spewy LAG=raise.

Re: 30/60 river decision: to raise or to call?
I just call. He's played the hand strange. His staring at the 5 seems like it changed something (or he's trying to indicate that). He could have just a J, or he could have you crushed. I'd call because I want to see his hand to get a better read on him for the future.
If I had to put him on one particular hand, I would guess J8 just got counterfeited. Of course, that would mean you should raise |

If villain had J8, he would either have bet the turn or c/r'd the turn. In fact, I'm pretty sure that if Villain had TPNK, he'd bet the turn. Remember, he's LAGgro. |

Re: 30/60 river decision: to raise or to call?
No way villain has J8.
I would 3-bet the flop always, because I 3-bet almost every flop that I play strongly, from TPTK to sets to big draws to overpairs. Your turn bet is definitely a good play. Too many players get scared into checking here. River, I call. I doubt worst hands pay you off if you raise, and you're good here a LOT of the time. Actually, I think 9Ts is a possibility for him... |

I don't think it matters as he's probably folding.
I'd raise, Queens up is a pretty good hand. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't like flaming, so plz don't take this personal, but this is really really bad, I'll tell you why you should always look at the relative and not the absolute strength of your hand a couple of days back I was playing some low stakes 3/6 sh limit cuz I want to get more into short handed games and I think it will improve my full ring game as well, long story short: 2 dudes went 24 bets on the river with one showing quads and the other the nuts, I'd think quads is a pretty good hand... moreover, if it doesn't matter bc he's probably folding, why then would you raise? hero should only raise if there's clearly value to be won, bc if there isn't any he shouldn't raise as he sure as hell can lose value by raising |
