Re: Defending the SB against LAG....
if you never defended your blind with anything other than AA, KK, QQ, JJ and AK youd still end up fine.

Fold preflop. If it was suited a call might have been ok. If you really want to play the hand, reraise, but its better to do with other holdings than ATo. [/ QUOTE ] Suited is an easy re-raise for me. |

Re: Defending the SB against LAG....
Holy crap, you guys are folding ATo in the blinds vs 40/18 types with like 35% attempt to steal?
my blind play probably sucks |

Re: Defending the SB against LAG....
Against this guy you should be three betting at least some of the time as his button range is enormous and definitely folding the rest as this spot will suck every single time against him.
With regards to this hand, I like a block more than a check against this dude cause he'll give up on one of the hands he might be bluffing and might pay you off with the unlikely other one, but once you check, he knows you're looking for a cheap showdown and he'll pot those hands as well as all hands that beat you. All of this is why your preflop play against this dude is bad news. |

Re: Defending the SB against LAG....
That said, I'm not defending in this spot with ATo. I'd rather have 76s. Reason being against this opponent in this position, a flopped TPMK has just enough value to be worth putting some chips in, even though we often end up being second best. If he makes smallish bets on each street (or if we bet & get called) we'll often get compelling odds on that street. But when all is said and done and we've ended up putting half the chips in the total pot, it's an overall loser.
