Re: Video Card Recommendations
The November issue of PC mag has some video card reviews. According to PC MAG the 2400 PRO with 256MB is barely able to run windows Vista Areo interface. They dont rate the 8300 and 8400 nVidia GPUs but have the 8500-8800

Re: Video Card Recommendations
If you are running Vista, you may want at least the 256MB (it seems to be a slug with anything resembling low-tech, but if you are still running XP, there is no reason why 128MB won't be more than adequate as your needs are less than demanding.
If you are still running XP and you really aren't ever going to do serious gaming (I don't do any gaming), the 128MB would work great and it would be mega-cheap. They are just new enough to still be found with relative ease, and just old enough to be VERY cheap. I picked up a couple with two monitor plugs (one VGA, one DVI) for a total, including shipping, of just over $60. Of course they are arriving tomorrow so I will give a more detailed report of installation at that time, but I expect everything will go smoothly and I will be running dual-monitor on two separate computers. |
