I think that it also depends on your playing style as well. IMHO the 6 max lends itself to those of us that like to play more hands and gamble a little more.
Also, FullTiltPoker is spreading cap games. I prefer to play the cap at a 6 person table simply because people are willing to get in there and gamble with not much of anything. The cap cushions the times that they suck out. I have found it to be pretty profitable. The 9 handed cap would have it's advantages but the 6 max suits my playing style. |

[ QUOTE ]
If you are a bad player, calling too much, playing too many hands and so on; then your "strategy" is more suitable for 6 max. [/ QUOTE ] WTF? Are you bitter about getting sucked out on or something? 1) Playing to many hands and calling to much will get you killed over the long run in any poker game, and 6-Max will quite likely make it even more painful. 2) 6-Max requires a wider range of hands in later positions, and a narrower range of hands in earlier positions. In other words, the effect of position is magnified in 6-Max. 3) Players who tend toward calling over raising, should avoid 6-Max. Inversely, if you are a player who is constantly looking to raise and reraise other players, 6-Max may be for you. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think that 6-max is more suited to a LAG strategy - always putting pressure on the blinds. The LAG or maniac is closer to correct strategy in 6 max than it is in a full-ring game. These guys do better at 6 max than full-ring, but maybe that just means that most of them just bust slower. A skillful LAG who plays well post-flop can do very well. Calling stations, however will just get value betted to death. |

6-maxis more suited for a LAG player. You can play more hands and push more people around. You can also bluff alot easier and much more. Also, you can lose alot but gain alot.
It also is just alot faster. Period. -HoldemPokerPlyr |

if you want more action play 6-max, if you love your v. TAG game then play full ring. Personally, after playing a load of STT I want more action, so I play 6-max. FR is safer imo, because you have to be very tight and only play premium hands.

I just wonder:
If 6-handed is more fun, more profitable, more whatever.. what about 5-handed? 4-handed? What would be the optimum and why? |
