the thing is 88 is the nuts here from his standpoint.

If you believe he thinks this than a 7 very well is too!

i mean if you think a7 is the nuts here, he might think 88 is the nuts if he has it and make a thin call here.

Raising the flop?

[/ QUOTE ]

Why can't we raise the flop here? I'd raise it as a bluff on this board and I don't want to always just call when I hit a 7. Metagame? I'm raising for value/protection cuz he doesn't have me beat on this flop a huge % of the time 3 handed.

I don't think I made some stellar play here, I just want some discussion on pros and cons of raising flop. That by itself is good discussion.

i never bluff on paired boards because i get played back so much, so i guess raising when you have a little something is great cos you will get so much bluff action.

trouble is when you shove you aren't getting looked up with anything worse, so i think you just have to call his 3bet and proceed. that way you maximise your profits and don't turn your hand into a bluff

ok. this isn't a lead but i get your point.

yes i raise a tonne against 1st level thinkers because the chances of them having anything are slim.

against TAGs who think about my range i never bluffraise, because they think i have nothing (yeti theorem)

Well, I think it depends on the outcome. The pros of raising this flop are mainly it has solid potential for bluffing and you may win a nice pot. So if he folds, you won, but if he calls, he's probably showing you a winner. One of those situations where air's about as good to me. I guess another plus is after your all in, he's not outplaying you, and you're putting him to the decision. Let him make the hard choice (assuming no Q).

The cons really are if he calls, you're probably way behind. I sincerely doubt an underpair calling here, it'll probably be a big pp, or that Q you're hoping he doesn't have.

I'm curious what your thinking is for big PP's. Do you feel that this bet will get these to fold, so that you have a good chance of winning the pot, because he won't have a queen that often?

yeti says push, its bvb.... i think your read that he would 3bet anything here is about right....

the only prob i have with it is that multitabling tags tend to not do weird [censored] like this, even if they are aggressive

[censored] it tho, its only a buyin, and the rest of the table will think youre an idiot whether you win or lose and this is very, very +ev. this type of hand can buy you a bad image forever

question. if you had A6o and decided to raise the flop, do you still push over his 3bet? do you think he's ever going to call with a worse hand than A7?
