If you have, or know someone with, a Costco membership, check out their store but also their site for chairs. The best thing about their site is that you can use someone's card and get it shipped direct to your house.

Or than that, look up Office Furniture in the phone book. There are lots of places that sell older models for cheap or offer buy backs from closed business.

I have two aerons and a mirra, along with a bad back. I can vouch that they are worth the price, especially the aeron. It is the only chair I can sit in for hours at a time and still be able to walk normally afterwards. One of my aerons is maybe 7 years old and the other I just purchased recently. I figure that the older one has cost about 30 cents a day -- not bad for 7 years of comfort. Less than the rake on one hand.

I wasn't sure at first whether or not to buy such an expensive chair, but I can tell you, I'm really glad I did. I spend quite a lot of time in front of my computer, and then it's easily worth it. I've had problems with my back for 2.5+ years because of a bad chair I used. The same goes for keyboard/mouse/computer in general.

Staples has a chair with a foam cushion bottom and an aeron-style back. Its arms can be set wider or narrow and higher or lower, the seat tilt and height can be adjusted, and so can the angle and height of the back. It normally goes for $150, but I got it on sale for $120. It's an excellent chair for the price.

Well, why don't you try them out? You might be pleasantly surprised.
