My father-in-law takes walks a lot. My wife got him a pedometer as a gift and he loves the thing.

Does he like music? You could get him a Nano or something and load it up with tunes he likes. Then he'll only have to plug it to maintain it. Sounds like something he could use on his mallwalks.

-trip to Niagara
-new beer fridge
-trip to New Orleans
-double breasted trench and a fedora
-whale watching trip to Montreal
-gift cert. for a full body massage and dinner at his favorite high-end restaurant
-airfare to Costa Rica
-topcoat and an Ivy hat
-get his car detailed and have naughty maids clean his house

This is probably too much to spend, but my brother just bought my mother a flat screen TV and she liked it a lot.

Edit: If that's too much and you're looking to spend in the $100 range, a gift certificate to have his car detailed. I know I would love to get a present like this as I would like to have this done but hate spending the bucks to do it.

anyone from a kid to an old man likes a high quality knife or possibly a leatherman.

for more money 175 about a ccr clock radio is the nuts. its the best i have ever had bar none.
