We discussed Bluff's status a while ago in this forum, I explained back then that I doubt Mason would allow BT to be banned because he views him as an important asset. Berge20 would agree, we discussed Bluff's work over diner with Mason when he was in Vegas.

this makes no [censored] sense at all. look at the thread diablo mentioned in his OP. bluffthis comes in and starts derailing the thread and being extremely negative, having no point, etc. of course he is going to be criticized by others for his terrible posts. how does that equate to, 'we have to ban them as well.' ??

part of moderation is making judgments about when someone has a valid point to make and does it in an acceptable manner, and when someone is just out of line, being ridiculous or being unacceptably hostile. in general, people who are hostile get much more leeway if they are also insightful, thoughtful, and correct. (some of us even get to be mods [img]/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img] ) bluffthis meets none of those conditions in about 95% of his posts, which is why he is a cancer to the forums. tell him he can only post in legislation if you want, he is too much of a polarizing troll in basically every other forum.

it is lucky for OOT (and unlucky for everyone else) that he is aware i am willing to make this call and drop the hammer on him, and thus he stays out of OOT.

I basically agree w/ everything NT! has said based on what I've seen from the guy. Obviously, since I read ATF and don't read Leg, that's what my perception is based on.

My post here was prompted by the ATF thread that had the potential to be a very good thread for 2+2, but instead BluffThis purposefully destroyed it, for no other reason than just wanting to be negative towards NT!/OOT/2+2. It's not the first time he has done that.

There are many posters who make threads bad because they are just dumb and annoying. That's just something that goes w/ the territory. But this guy makes conscious efforts to ruin threads and worsen people's 2+2 experience. That's the thing I feel is very ban-worthy.

I agree 100% and do not think that being an annoying douche is a ban-worthy offense. My post had nothing to do w/ this guy's popularity (or lack thereof).

Besides, he doesn't really violate any specific rules. He is one of the few members of the politics forum that I think myself, Censored, and RR didn't even have to warn during our tenure their. He is outspoken and many people on this site disagree with him on many issues, but thats not a good reason to ban him.

he violates rules we have in OOT that i think more forums should have. (specifically: derailing good threads, ignoring or deliberately obscuring valid arguments, etc). allowing people to do things like that basically allows persistent and anti-social trolls like bluff to ruin entire forums with their nonsense.

People who don't violate specific rules yet ruin conversation and debate by being annoying twits are called trolls, and people who ban them are called moderators.

Bluff should have been nuked a long time ago.
