Re: Books I\'m reading etc.
Re-reading The Wheel of time Series by Robert Jordan, on the 10th book, Crossroads of Twilight. (New one just came out in the past...year? or so, so I wanted to try and remember what the flip was going on in the series)

Re: Books I\'m reading etc.
can someone recommend a hemmingway novel they really liked? i read The Sun Also Rises recently n thought it was f'ing cool.
ohhh ya, and if someone could represent a fun mystery series that would also be nice. ohhhhhh and lastly, if someone could recommend a history book (on any subject) that's written in a captivating way (ie- not like a history book), that'd be terrific. k thx in advance. |

I am currently reading "No Country for Old Men". I am enjoying it, but to be honest, I don't see what all the hype is about. It's good, but kinda forgettable. [/ QUOTE ] I've just read this book and I have to say that it is one of the best books I've ever read. So rare to find a crime-thriller completely devoid of cliches. |

Re: Books I\'m reading etc.
Just finished two books for the first time. The Grapes of Wrath which I enjoyed but did give me depression for a few days afterwards ... A Man In Full by Tom Wolfe ... the payoff was not worth the effort tho others may have different opinions
Probably going to start Neal Stephenson's The Baroque Cycle next ... this will be my third or fourth try getting through Quicksilver |

[/ QUOTE ] I enjoyed to have and have not. As for history, if you are interested at all in Greek and/or Roman History, Claudius the God by Robert Graves is an exceptional book. It is not "pure" history, but rather historical fiction. However, it's historical accounts are indeed very precise and very detailed. |

Probably my favorite book of all. I also really liked East of Eden which actually may be just as great. What are some other Steinbeck books that hold up to these two? I have Moon is Down but have not read it yet. Other Steinbeck reccomendations please! |
