Re: Best place for broke college kids
Beer at a strip club is also 7 or 8 bucks. Teach your group how to play basic hold 'em, find a smaller poker room and arrange for a private game, and get drunk first on free casino booze while playing 2/4. The thirty bucks or so per hour going into the drop will be a lot cheaper than paying bar prices. Any money you might lose will be going to each other.

Re: Best place for broke college kids
I did a Spring Break to Vegas last year, but on the much cheaper way of staying in a hostel downtown. Yeah sharing a room with a bunch of dudes sucks (especially considering I'd go to my room at 10pm before going out and everyone was already sleeping lol), but there were a lot of hot foreign girls there, free BBQs, free tequila nights, pool, hot tub, and people who worked there knew all the hot spots (there's another one called Sin City Hostel that's fairly close to the Strip which is also good). The dorms cost $19/night and the regular rooms cost $40ish. You can get cheap rooms during the week at places like Orleans, Casino Royale, Imperial, or O'Shea's.
GL renting a car, you have to pay an extreme fine if you're under 26, but the buses run 24/7 with a good amount of pick-up points, and it's $4/day or $2/ride, but if you stay on the strip, you won't need it much unless going downtown. Also if your buddies have short rolls and want to play NL, they should still have the $50 BI 1/2 game at Luxor which is really juicy (I think you can rebuy to $100 once you get under $50). Lots of 5/10 guys come over there to steam and spew off chips. As far as flights, no need to book anytime soon, wait til' late December at the earliest IMO. I had great success with Name Your Own Price on Priceline and got a flight RT from Boston for $230. |

Re: Best place for broke college kids
1. I think Vegas spreads a stud game with no ante and a 1$ bring in. Someone told me, you start the game and order drinks. Then, no one calls the bring in and you all sit there drinking.
2. This won't work for very long. 3. El Cortez: AVOID AVOID |

Re: Best place for broke college kids
Thanks again for all the help guys. I've gotten a few more specifics from the guys if this helps anyone suggest places to stay:
Cody (me): Poker first and foremost, probably 1/2 (pref. 300 max BI). I don't drink so no concerns there. Probably gonna spend a day walking the strip seeing the sites etc. Kyle: "Dude I wanna stay drunk all week...oh and play 1/2 with you for a day or two, and then get some titties in my face" Bill: "I'll see your drunk week and raise you blacked out all week" Cody: "String bet" Fehnel: Wants to see the sites, gamble a little (BJ, slots, some poker) and see the aforementioned titties. We're thinking of renting a car, although we understand we're gonna take a bath because we're all 21-22. Cody |

Re: Best place for broke college kids
I'd recommend fewer people/room in a cheaper hotel versus more people/room in a better hotel.
For cheap places on the Strip, I'd recommend Travelaxe. It's a travel consolidation site, but if you don't gamble at a compable level on slots or in the pit it's pretty good. Regardless of what you find, I'd directly check Hooter's and Casino Royale's websites. I've stayed both places and they are cheap. The Casino Royale location is just about perfect. I'd stay away from Downtown for this trip. I think you'll spend a lot of time cabbing to the Strip which kind of kills your savings on the room. |

Even if you can bring yourself to rent a minivan, it will be expensive, and only 7 or 8 of you can fit in it at the same time. You'll want to be taking cabs if you're out drinking, so you might not use it much. |

Re: Best place for broke college kids
I've been to Vegas over 100x's and had my b-party there last summer. Here are a few things I recommend:
- STAY ON THE STRIP! You will save time and money not having to take taxis everywhere. You will more than make up your money even if it means paying a bit more for the hotel. I'm not sure why some are some enamored with Downtown, but do you and your friends a favor and don't even THINK about staying in Downtown if you're 21-22 y.o.! - Sounds like cheap is the key, consider (in the following order): Flamingo Hilton, Harrah's, Imperial Palace, Tropicana, and Hooter's. If those fail, then consider Stratosphere and some off-Strip places.... - If you're there for 5 nites, consider breaking up your stay where you can stay at nicer places during the week for cheaper and then moving to a cheaper place for the weekend when prices increase. Also do your research as to what clubs you want to go to. It won't be easy with a bunch of dudes, but if you are hotel guests, that makes it easier. Some of the best clubs right now are: Pure, Tao, (various clubs at the Palms) Trist, Jet, plus a few others that have just opened at Luxor etc. - Do NOT rent a car! There are plenty of taxis, buses, and limos. You want to drink and party, not worry about finding a parking spot! Plus the weather in March should be great! If you're not a Vegas regular, trust me, it is a great feeling walking down the Vegas Strip with an alcoholic beverage in hand and not get in trouble for it! - Strip joints love bachelor parties and they will hook you up! Call them and ask them to send you a limo. They are 'free', just tip the driver appropriately (like $5-10 per would do). Negotitate everything over the phone. At least the bachelor should get free cover. They will then get you guys a good table at the joint. - From my experience, Orbitz.com seem to be a bit cheaper than travelocity, expedia etc. although most of them are related to each other and offer you the same rates. Do more search such as vegas.com (related to lasvegas.com) and try various sites. Many have specific hotel rooms reserved for themselves and you might be able to catch a good deal. |

Great post, I'll second the Flamingo recommendation.

[/ QUOTE ] OP already mentioned that he does not drink and would act as designated driver. Plus, if they use valet, parking should not be a problem. However, OP did mention that they are all under 25, so they will have to buck up a fee on the rental. |
