I feel like you are bordering on making excuses for him under the guise of "it's just his personality." This is a completely unacceptably mean and cruel way to treat a loved one. I can't believe that everyone involved carried on as if this were no big deal. My heart aches for your grandmother.

I know. She is too nice to get angry about it. I am too much of a wuss to get into a confrontation with my dad. I don't use it as a justification--I think it's awful!

I would love to get more criticism/input on this story. Sorry if that's nitty! After distancing myself from the situation, I am glad that I "documented this". I think I needed to let it out of my mind in one way or another.
