Re: 1/2 stud8- typical KK mess
I play it about the same, although I probably bet sixth. Folding third would be pretty silly, in my opinion.

Re: 1/2 stud8- typical KK mess
[ QUOTE ]
Most reasonable players are overwhelmingly likely to have started with a 3-low/2-flush in the 9's spot. [/ QUOTE ] You mean 3 flush, 2 low right? He has a 9 up. [ QUOTE ] (Also I think people in this forum are way too hard on big overpairs in stud 8, but that's another matter.) [/ QUOTE ] I agree; people tend to play big pairs and then get burned in multiway pots at low limits, so they don't play them at higher limits in heads up pots where they are much more useful. I don't particularly mind if people don't play them though. |

Re: 1/2 stud8- typical KK mess
If this player is as described I would definitly bet 6th.
He could just have anything stinky that you are currently ahead of. It a shame you didn't improve on the river but in general this is an awesome spot. Typically I could see you improving to Ks up and just taking this guy to valuetown the whole way. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] You shouldn't be aggressive with split kings in stud 8. It plays much different that stud hi. I personally would maybe call on third only because you are hoping to split the pot at best in the end so why even bother risking him hitting split 9's or a low straight? [/ QUOTE ] I will often just fold split kings on 3rd, but the raise seems standard here with only a 9 limping and the bringin the only player to act. [/ QUOTE ] I have to agree on this. I have learned some lessons that hards way playing big pairs in this game. Not saying a raise here is wrong, butbig pairs are tough to win with. |
