Bxe6+ looks really bad, why not play Rxe6 and swap off the rook? Then if Rx (what else?) Bx+ Kh8, Kg2 or something. Now Rf8 looks like it loses after Ne4 RxQ NxQ, White's pieces are so much better for the endgame. And if not Rf8 you can play Ne4 stuff anyway and get a little bit more solid.

I obviously screwed up w/ 29. Qxb6, should have played Qxa6. I had some ppl hovering around my area so I was trying to finish up quickly.

Qxb6 Rxc3 and White won't be able to hold the a-pawn for long. The resulting position will be drawish but if anyone has the better side of it, it's Black. 29. Qxb6 Rxa2 30. c4 h6 (This is unnecessary and will allow White to soften up Black's kingside later.) 30... Re8 is a serious winning attempt for Black. A) 31. Kf1 Rxh2 32. Qxa6 Rb8 33. Kg1 Rc2 34. Qa1 Rxc4 B) 31. Qb1 Rae2 32. Qd3 Rb2 (Now Black will get behind the pawn with Ra8 and Rbb8 or vice versa. The white c-pawn is useless against two rooks on the back rank.) 33. Qd1 a5 34. c5 Ra8 35. c6 Rbb8 36. Qa4 Rb4 37. Qd1 a4 38. c7 Re4 39. Qd3 Ree8 40. Qa3 Rec8 and the c-pawn falls. Can White improve on this line? C) Finally 31. Qb4 a5 32. Qb1 Rae2 is similar. After 30...h6 31. c5 now if 31... Re8 32. Qb1 Rae2 33. Qd3 Rb2 34. Kf1 Ra8 35. c6 Rbb8 36. g5 White has enough counterplay to draw. |
