and IGN is way wrong. Stick with Shadow of Colossus, its the superior game by the game people who did ico. If you like Shadow then you might like ico too.

First of all the list was done before Shadow came out. ICO is a great game independent of SotC's existence.

Second of all, I know I'm in the minority, but I hate Shadow of the Colossus. It's repetitive, boring, and frustrating. Maybe 4 out of the 16 Colossi are fun and innovative, the rest are dull. I'm not fooled by the pseudo-variety in having to grab onto a boss's arm or beard rather than his leg to defeat him.

The battles also drag on too long once you figure out the "brilliant" design of each one. Holding onto R1 for 30 seconds waiting for the Colossus to stop shaking so that you can stab him once before repeating the process 5 more times is not engaging gameplay.

The overworld sucks. Sure it's pretty, but it's also sparse, and there's nothing to do - literally nothing to interact with other than the save spots.

Then you have to watch the same idiot cut-scene 15 times after you kill each Colossus.

Ultimately SotC is a noble experiment that falls flat.

It's good for a few days of entertainment. After you get all the extra stuff and make the 800M moon you're pretty much done with it, as far as I can tell.

Is the sequel worth playing?

I now have Guitar Hero 1 & 2, Grand Turismo 4, and GTA SA. Most of the games are only 19.99. I feel like I just stepped out of a time warp, but getting this PS2 was a complete surprise and it is totally keeping me occupied right now.

I have RE4 on my Cube. I'll definately get some of these other games, though. I should also get Madden so I can play it without the stupid Cube controller.

It's basically the same thing with a few more levels and a different story. However, with this game it's unreal how simple and unchanging the game can be and still be fun. It is true that you can tear through the games in like a day or two, but they are both awesome games to pick up when you have an hour or two to kill. Plus, aren't they only $20 each? Just look as #2 as continuation of the first game and not an evolution and you'll enjoy it.

If you like classic-style roleplaying games and want to waste about 100 hours of your life, play Dragon Quest VIII. It's awesome.

Hilarious game with very fast paced action and in innovative new style on the old beat em games (final fight) etc.

Fantastic game and a must buy. It's made by tthe same people that did Okami. Clover studios but they were shut down... [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
