Not to be results oriented, but what surprised we was that the check-raise/lead indeed was a semi-bluff. I fell hard given the river check. At lower levels this level of agression seems non-exsistent. While maybe a dumb idea to play higher, this hand was actually a good lesson that I haven't been taught so well in less aggro games. |

3 players (hand says 4, but its 3?), so he had neutral pot equity with a nut flush draw; that's why he c/r-ed. He could bet out, but then you might raise and limit the field, losing him money. So he checked and awaited developments, planning to possibly c/r. All went well, you bet, other called, he can now raise "for free". Benefits are that you are less likely to raise the turn after this show of strength, and you might even fold the turn, which he was going to call anyhow. He's betting the king in the hope to bet you off jacks or queens.
Good moves on his part, I like it; altough, I usually 3 bet to counter exactly this play. |
