[ QUOTE ] But with Ceasars tourney you will have to pay taxes if you win over $600. I think this really negates the excellent structure. [/ QUOTE ] You have to pay taxes no matter how much you win at any casino. It's just that Harrah's has different reporting requirements. But the amount of tax you will end up paying, assuming you do your taxes honestly, will be the same. [/ QUOTE ] Harrahs does a but more then that. They make you fill out a W2G and will withhold taxes from certain foreign residents. Venetian and non Harrahs properties pay you in chips and assume you will report your winnings honestly, on your own |

Yeah, the correct fees for the Ceaser's noon tourney is $65+15 buy-in, with the $50 rebuy. You start with 1500 chips, and get 3000 with the rebuy. Most of the players just rebuy at the beginning to start with 4500.

[/ QUOTE ] People are constantly telling me "oh, I won't play any Harrah's tournaments because you have to pay taxes." They look at me like I'm a nutcase when I tell 'em I don't care at all because I declare my gambling winnings exactly legally. I refuse to include "makes it easier to cheat on your taxes" as one of my tournament selection criteria. Actually the W2G thing can be used to your benefit. I've managed to get some pretty positive EV deals done in the 11pm Caesars tourney when I was low on chips and were were down to the final 4 or 5 by pointing out that if it's played out, the winner, or sometimes first and second will get a W2G and lose ~30% of their winnings to taxes. It's particularly effective when there are several fureners at the table and they face having the money withheld, not just reported. |

please check the www.allvegaspoker.com and use their tournament database as it's more up to date. [/ QUOTE ] I went on this site and saw some tournaments that have dealer add ons. I know that the money goes towards dealer tips but, when is it given out? Before the tournament starts? I've never seen it before so any info would be great. Thanks |

Dealer add-on is either done at the table before the first hand, or when you buy in. At Venetian, for instance, when you sit down they'll make it clear you have to cough up the $5 dealer toke before the first hand to get the extra chips. Most places seem to have given up on this approach and just include the dealer toke as part of the buyin and it's no longer optional. Far simpler.

Any comments on the Caesars 11 PM? That is a new one since I was last in Vegas in March. It looks like a faster structure than the Noon. How long does it typically last?

[/ QUOTE ] I've played it a couple times. It is generally much smaller than the noon event, so with the 30 minute rounds it ended before 3am each time. What mostly bugs me about it is the $20 of overhead. The $70 is $50 into the prize pool, $10 to the house, and $10 to the dealers. $20 out of $70 is a lot. Sahara doesn't take that much for their $42 with $20 addon 11pm tourney. |
