Yeah, most of my friends seem to think it's all luck and just flat out dont understand. Since I'm going back to school in the fall, I quit my day job April 1 and all but one of them think I sit down and piss money away every day for a few hours. As such, when they ask(because they do, repeatedly), I just smile and say I'm doing alright. They only hear dollar amounts after big losing days.

They'll probably realize something's up when I start rolling around in a new car sometime after the holidays.

When I buy things, I measure them in how much time it takes to make the money for it, not in how much it actually is.

So if someone tries to talk to me like I shouldn't be spending $5 on a coffee, well, sure I understand how they don't want to spend 30 minutes on a coffee, but I don't mind spending a minute or two on it.

I do that too...but I cut my hourly rate in half because I am too lazy to do more then 20 hours a week.

i know what you mean, about being uncomfortable with sharing your short term results. I was at AC last weekend, and dropped 3k taking a shot at 5/10nl. I told my roomates that i won a little. They would flip a [censored] if I lost 3 grand, tell me to get counseling, go to GA meetings, etc. where for me, losing 3 buyins is perfectly normal.

whats gay about feeling good knowing you were right the whole time while everyone doubted you. Ive been through swings, I have a solid chunk of hands under my belt, think what you want, I dont really care as long as I know the truth.

and by "hone my skills" I didnt mean Ive mastered poker and I make millions and can beat everyone. But there was a good amount of time that I was a losing player(thankfully I knew to stay at low stakes), then a good amount of time that I just broke even. Also I only played sngs and tournaments for more then half the the time Ive been playing poker.
