when you say "built around Mark and John from Foxwoods", do you mean they are the providers or the ones who organized/start the game?

I am a 1/2NL (and some 2/4NL) online player leaving for Vegas tomorrow morning with $2K from my bankroll. I should mention that if I bust the $2K, I will still be rolled fine for online.

This thread is perfect for me, so I hope to hear more advice. So far I have been told to hit up MGM, Bellagio, and the Venetion. I am hearing maybe the Wynn too. I am staying at the Luxor with some guys who won't be playing much poker, but I should get at least 4 hrs/day in. I will be playing during the weekdays if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Note: I have been to Vegas in my limit days, and I was blown away as to how soft the games were. I hope to have the same experience with NL.

You can find easy $1/2 NL games no matter where you play. Bellagio only goes as low as $2/5 for some reason last I was there. You can find good games of $10/20 at the Mirage and $8/16 and $15/30 at Bellagio (I don't play higher, but I can say some of the donks in the Mirage game were on the waiting list for a $20/40 table.)

Play $2/$5 NL and nothing higher. That would gice you 4 buy-ins. This is assuming you would be OK with losing 1/3 of your bankroll. If not stick to $1/$2.

I understand the sentiment here, but the specifics are a bit off. You don't have to run "white hot" to not lose $2000 in 6 hours at NL2/5. You have to try pretty hard to lose $2000 in 6 hours, really.

But yeah, $2000 is a little short for $500 buyins whether at NL2/5 or Wynn NL1/3. I'd suggest starting with NL1/2 ($200 or $300 buyins) and see how it goes. If in a day or two the bankroll is bigger, feel free to sit at NL2/5. And on your last day if you just wanna take a shot, go ahead and sit at NL2/5 long as you can afford a couple buyins. But there's nothing at all wrong with sticking with NL1/2 the whole visit.

And 30/60 mix? With a $6K bankroll? You're very brave. Can't possibly recommend you go sit at a Wynn mix game with $2K (unless again, you want to do this your very last day and understand you could lose it all in a few hours). On the other hand, if you find a 4/8 HORSE or mix game going at Venetian or Caesars or Rio, feel free to sit in.

I only played the 30/60 twice. It paid for my furniture in and television in my apartment and a couple months tuition. Most of that is gone. That comment was simply to imply I have experience in mixed games if someone had a recommendation. And in these game do they just play HORSE or is triple draw a common game?

Caesars seems to be HORSE and only HORSE. Rio is usually more like EBOT. Venetian can be either, but HORSE seems more common than general MIX in my not-so-very-frequent visits--someone who visits V more often than I should answer on their behalf. And TI has some sorta wacky mix games now and then, but I've never played at TI.

And don't expect these games to be going often. On any given night they may go, they may not. If they do start, it'll typically be in the evening.
