Re: Flop Top 2: My line?
Never worry about someone folding top pair without a read. Raise flop, bet bet. You lost $26 this hand.

Re: Flop Top 2: My line?
I actually like the line. But not because I think it extracted maximum value out of this hand. Think of how a play like this affects your table image. From now on, if you have something like KQ and limp and the flop is 10 9 5 and the SB bets the pot with 10 7, and you call. WTF is the SB gonna think now? They have NO CLUE where they are. Many times they'll just check/fold the turn. Sometimes I'll play hands oddly like this and sacrifice value just to mix it up. Don't make this a habit though...

You have a problem with tilt. It's probably a leak for you. [/ QUOTE ] Hehe. Could be. I was on the button, and I figured what-the-hell. I was single-tabling at the time, so you are probably right. Playing 4 tables I would never have come into the pot. I guess I posted because I usually play this sort of hand OOP (Blinds), and in that case I would have played differently. Casey |

Re: Flop Top 2: My line?
[ QUOTE ]
definitely raise that flop for value, you are way ahead of most of his range, and he will want to see a showdown with most of his range. [/ QUOTE ] My original line was to call the flop, see if SB or BB comes along. I had MP1 on top pair, so I counted on him to bet the turn also. I would raise the turn bet. When MP1 checked the turn, I was afraid he had something as weak as mid-pair or PP lower than K, in which case he just may want to get to showdown if it was cheap. That's when I decided to change my line, and lead out bets I thought 8-9 would maybe call. If I KNEW he had TPGK, I would certainly have bet more. I had to change my read because of his weak play on the turn. Casey |

Re: Flop Top 2: My line?
OP,
If I remember correctly, villain in this hand was xxxxxxx. He definitely would have paid off a flop raise, 2/3 PSB on turn, and 1/2 PSB on river. He did it (paid off w/KQo on a QJx flop vs. a flop minraise) on another table I was on. |

He did it (paid off w/KQo on a QJx flop vs. a flop minraise) on another table I was on. [/ QUOTE ] It was xxxxxxxx. I just started playing the NL on Stars, so I don't really know any of the guys here except from the tourneys. He turns out to play pretty well. He would have called 3/4 pot bet on turn and river with his holding. Casey |

Casey [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure, but isn't playing these types of hands(K80, A8o, etc.) OOP in the blinds an even larger leak than limping on the button? Unless you mean in a blind stealing situation. |

I rarely fold my BB when there has not been a raise.

[ QUOTE ] Raise flop for value. Don't show results. [/ QUOTE ] Not showing results has as much effect on an analysis as showing the results. [/ QUOTE ] Wrong. Don't show results. And don't include screennames of other players. About the only time we include screennames of villians is if villian is a known SSNL poster. Otherwise it's considered bad manners here. |
