I will be there the week of june 24-28.
Definitely will be at Bonions for a few events plus side action.
Very happy to hear the old joint still puts out a decent event.
Its a battered old barn but the poker greats in spirit still grace the place.
I have a very special place in me for this historical place.
I absolutely wont be going near the WSOP donkfest.
"bring it on"

How far away is Binion's from the strip, and how much does it cost to get there?

They are continuing to run a great festival. We stayed three nights this time and returned yesterday afternoon.

No one is being forced to play in a tent, comps are $2/hr. with no limit, Omaha games are raked at 5% up to $2 max. They have new seat cushions (chairs are horrific). Lines are short and simple, no registration involved.

Where they are lacking are game selection and weeding out undesirables. A methed out verbal abuser was allowed to play hour after hour on Thursday despite the fact that he was definitely about to explode and barring a miracle his demise was not going to end well. Luckily, that miracle came and he busted out before anyone got physically hurt. A woman who had oozing and bleeding wounds all up and down her right arm was allowed to play all day. She was wearing a wife-beater, to boot, so the gunk was getting everywhere despite several complaints.

The tables are deplorable, and only slightly better than the chairs.

It is more than worth playing, as the games and tourneys are soft, and you will be treated like a name instead of a number.

Glenn and I had about $140 in comps from playing the past two weeks (on top of cashing out about $100 already), and were able to enjoy a nice dinner at the steak house, free of charge.

I've played in 4 events so far. Cashed twice. 5 way chop of Stud8 was my best finish. I find that the tournaments are well run. Dealers are competent. Floor people are surprisingly good.

The tables are too small for ten handed play and chairs suck. Even though there is no smoking in the poker room it is not smoke free. The room can get cold at times so bring a sweater if you are old like me.

Even though the blinds do escalate pretty quickly there is plenty of play given these are small buy-in tournaments. Competition is what one would expect for small buy-in tournaments. Very few experienced/competent tournament players.

The juice is relatively high but the competition is not great. These tournaments offer a good learning/experimenting experience at a reasonable price.
