Lots on times in the Discus, my event on the Track team in High School. But the proudest first place was this one particular track meet where the coach approached me to run the first leg of the 880 relay because we had guys out that day.

I was 6' 3" 230ish. I didn't want to do it as I had never competed in a running event before. Plus I had sneakers on and didn't know how to use starting blocks. The coach who was also my head football coach told me to just get down in a 3 point football stance and try and keep it close as we had a very good anchor.

Well when this huge guy(huge by 1967 standards anyway) got down into the 3 point stance with the Celtics type black sneakers there were more than a few snickers.

Until I won my leg, man that was fun.

Twice won S.C. Men's Fencing Championship (foil). Although some ten years later, I think you can argue that's meaningless. It still holds a lot of significance for me though.

I won the University of Michigan pool championship twice in the late 80s. Finished in a tie for 3rd in the Big Ten tournament.

I was never more than a very good B player, but it is a great memory as the first time I won it I was not the favorite going into the tourney. I came through the losers bracket in double elimination. After winning the first match of the finals I still remember asking for a break and going downstairs to call my father. (No cell phones back in the dark ages.) Good memory.

I won the pie eating contest at the Freshman and Senior Olympics at my high school. Senior year the pie eating was the final event, in the gym in front of everyone and it gave my team the overall victory. Also won a local pie eating contest. Also, I'm not fat.

Won spelling bees, geography bees, tons of sports awards.

In college my mock trial team won a lot....

Alright, I got nothing.
