Great post. Added to my favorites. Nothing has held back my bankroll more than staying and losing at tables where my image is weak.

Great post. I really need to start just leaving tables where I lose a few big pots, accrue a terrible image, and can't make a successful c-bet for the rest of the night.

What am I, chopped liver? I gets no respect, I tells ya, no respect at all.

JK Merc, good post. These are two sides of the same coin - when you're running well, everything comes together and you play better, when you're running badly, image & your own play tend to make things even worse. It's a positive feedback system, if you will.

Great post. Worth rereading periodically.

Especially at SSNL when you have a ton of table-selection options, this is something I often forget:

[ QUOTE ]
If you are forced to play a weak game, people may perceive you as weak. They will challenge your bets and raises constantly, and you will often have a marginal hand you'll have to let go. You further their image of you by playing correctly, and begin a downward spiral. All of a sudden the guy on the button is floating you and you're losing money raising Q10 suited in the CO. When you finally do play back, they fold rightly assuming you have a legitimate hand. Sometimes there isn't much to do in this situation except leave the table.

[/ QUOTE ]

I play for a lot of different reasons, and sometimes I'm trying to learn how to adapt to different table conditions, images, etc. If I'm just trying to make some money, though, change tables. And, really, my game is probably bad enough that I should still be working on ABCs most of the time, so .. again change tables.

Thanks.

Good post. This is a series right?

Well, it can be if the responses go over well. I have alot to add to this forum as far as observations of the more subtle aspect of the game. Here are some of my other essay posts so far:
