Looks like something like K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] or 44. I probably bet 450 and fold to a push but nothing wrong with checking.

The thing is, hero literally could not have shown more strength, starting from raising UTG. Put yourself in villian's shoes (and I'm imagining that hero has some sort of tight/decent-ish image) - he's be slightly worried even with 44 or AT on the turn and isn't bound to 3-bet or lead the river with those hands. He quite often will give hero a real strong hand on the river or, occasionally, a bluff on the turn so may often check on the river with a large part of his holdings. Yes that means he may be looking to c/c an ace sometimes, but so often a river bet folds out hands you beat and he has a boat a fair bit even with the call of the raise on the turn and river check. When you bet the river I just doubt you get called enough by hands you beat.

i dont get the check, and i don't get why people think a check is good, unless you think he's tight enough to fold a bare ace to a huge bet, which he isn't.
If he's a laggy player, why would be not be happy getting it in with 44, A10, Ak...he probably rejacks you a decent amount with AK anyway PF, so his range would have to be skewed towards 44, A10, or a hand that you beat, most likely AJish, KQ type hands. There's plenty of value in a bet here. |

I'd most likely value bet here unless I'm playing someone extremely tight.
If he has a fullhouse, then he played it pretty tricky, which seems contrary to your assumption that he sucks. Also, I think checking behind here is terrible for your image. But, my main game has been HU for a while--so maybe players at 6 max won't take note of that. |

Villain would have never called the turn raise with A9 or worse, since hero is representing a much better hand than this. There is a possibility he had FD+pair+gut outs, but this hand missed and isn't going to call a significant river bet, even more so after the wild turn action. So you will probably only get called by better hands, that's why I think this is a pretty easy check.

That wouldn't make a lot of sense on this board, especially since a push gets a good chunk of hero's chips, regardless of whether he calls or not. |

You can tell by the bet sizes this guy isn't CTS or Grim. Anyhow bet the river, he's rarely filled here. Folding to a push is fine.
