[ QUOTE ] I forgot to add that they told me all about the playground they are building on an impoverished Indian reservation. I think that is very cool, even though Barry did show us up by building a gymnasium. [/ QUOTE ] IS this with the BBV funds? We need a 2p2er to go and take pics ldo. [/ QUOTE ] Yes. Apparently you can designate your funds to be used pretty much any way you like. They told that me some people only want their funds to go for health care expenses or only for education expenses. If you make a donation, you can call the shots on how it is used. I got the impression you could specify for the money only to go to left-handed kids whose name started with "R" if you wanted to (OK, maybe not that). BBV asked for money to go to build a playground, so BBV's money went for that. I don't think it is built yet, but it was going to be at a school in Navajo country, I think in Flagstaff. Specifically, the BBV money went to that and to establish a fund for 60 kids who are on the waiting list to be picked up by sponsors and to fund this playground and there was a little left over. They have raised over $45,000 from our group and also picked up I think three permanent sponsors who committed to $28 a month to support a particular child. They have the details on the playground all laid out down to X many dollars per basketball hoop and Y many dollars for tetherball. I think it came to around $25k. They are pretty careful with their money. The PR lady told me a story about going to the finance people (who hold all the office supplies) for staples and they would only give them out one row at a time. |
