Soo.. Trip report? were you able to avoid major disaster during the O8 and clean up in the holdem?

Most of the above advice is very good for a quick crash lesson in O8. However if you are planning on playing this game on a regular basis it would be a good idea to do something to speed up the learning curve. Bladwin's section in Super System 2 should work well. Along with learning more about O8 you can use the book to brush up on hold em, or learn a little more about some other poker games(7 stud or hi lo).

Hello old friend,

Maybe you think it is wise to offer such obvious advice, but I doubt you'd be a winner if all the people in your game read this.

You also seem to have a hard time playing versus these trash hands. Let me educate everyone.

$3/$6 - Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo
Dealt to Schlemazel [6h Qh Kh 9d]
davebreal raises to $18
Schlemazel calls $12
*** FLOP *** [4c 2c Kd]
Schlemazel checks
davebreal bets $18
Schlemazel calls $18
*** TURN *** [4c 2c Kd] [Qs]
Schlemazel checks
davebreal bets $54
Schlemazel raises to $237
davebreal calls $183
*** RIVER *** [4c 2c Kd Qs][Jd]
Schlemazel bets $180
davebreal raises to $327, and is all in
Schlemazel calls $147
*** SHOW DOWN ***
davebreal shows [6c Ad 3h Kc] (a pair of Kings)
Schlemazel shows [6h Qh Kh 9d] (two pair, Kings and Queens)
Schlemazel wins the pot ($1,200) with two pair, Kings and Queens[/b]
davebreal adds $600

Nits get crushed in plo8.

This is very untrue. Good high wraps have approximately 1/2 the EV of good aces for me. Over 300k hands.

I don't feel like educating as much as dave, but KJJ8 is the very slight winning type hand you speak of, KQJTds is almost the nuts against two nits in a raised pot.

[ QUOTE ]

KQJT is marginally profitable BTW. It is an alright hand but you get it so seldom and its profit is relatively small, so playing it isn't essential for being a winning player.

If you mianly play PLO8 and can thus speculate on the cheap, then KQJT is mandatory to play.

I was just letting OP know that open folding that hand is perfectly fine for an inexperienced player.

Anything else you want to nitpick?

Edit to add:
Playing KJJ8 in a full ring LO8 game is just terrible.

Lets not forget about AA.
AA without help sucks in O8.
Even one nut flush draw is just marginal.
i.e. AsKsAd8c is a very marginal holding.
Maybe someday I'll just fold it and be done with it.

I fail to see any point to posting this hand, as you:
a) called a raise with a dominated and trashy hand
b) peeled on the flop when you were extremely way behind
c) raised on the turn when i clearly could not fold a monster 2 way-hand.

keep being a retard and posting your empty "brag" posts, and I will go through PTO for '06 and '07 and post every one of your losing hands I have on record, continue ridiculing you for being on permanent tilt, and finally, probably knock you out if ever see you in real life...

later,
dave

In fact, I did better in 08 then holdem. I won a very decent pot with K238, making kings full in a multi way raised pot. In holdem, I took some coolers, and misplayed some pockets. Overall, I lost 200 for the night, not too happy but it coulda been a lot worse ...
