Re: Line check - flopped boat.

[ QUOTE ] lol [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] I'm aware my play is bad here. I'm also aware of the argument that this is a very easy decision- just trying to learn. Beginner's forum has been helpful but the advice in the expert forums has been better. |

Assuming you called, your play is okay.

Re: Line check - flopped boat.
I did call, figuring if SB has 99, I just have to pay him off. I was actually almost certain he had 99.
UTG+1 called. River was A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB pushed all-in and UTG+1 called. UTG+1 showed A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for two pair, Aces and nines. SB showed A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] for the winning full house. I didn't really consider this a bad beat because I felt my weak line allowed it to happen. I posted here because: (1) I wanted to confirm that there is no reason for checking the flop; (2) I wondered whether I should have shoved or smooth called the flop rather than min-raising; and (3) I wanted views on whether my read on SB would ever be relevant in this situation. SB said he put me on 89 when I min-raised, and he was just trying to build a side-pot with the maniac in order to hedge his loss of the main pot to me. He sounded sincere, but who knows. |

Re: Line check - flopped boat.
reasons why checking the flop is bad.
-you want to start building a pot and betting in a way that you can get as much money as possible in by the end of the hand, checking the flop and then minraising the turn is a terrible way to get value and just screams 'i want action, please put money in the pot', seriously, are you ever doing this with air? I highly doubt it. - this board is very draw heavy, if anyone has 2 spades, JT, T7 or 67 you want to bet now so that they have to put money in now, because if you wait until they see that their draw doesn't hit you wont get any money out of them, you have to bet and get them to put in money to see those cards, you don't want to make bets that will fold out draws, but you need to bet something. |

Re: Line check - flopped boat.
Jesus tap-dancing christ.
If you're gonna c/r, make it something not girly, something around 55-60 works. Rather lead 10 and get value from all draws. |

all i saw was "when i min raised" [/ QUOTE ] Nothing wrong with min-rasing after it get backs to hero, if that was what you meant. By min-raising you get maximum value from draws that might fold to a bigger raise. If you just flat call UTG+1 might make a too big bet on turn forcing SB to fold without having put any more money in. |
